Creating a warm haven in your home
July 12, 2016I personally love winter, especially on those cold days when the fire is going and hearing the rain on the roof. Enjoying winter is made possible by creating warmth in your home; here are a few key considerations to keep you cosy:
Heating:
When renovating or purchasing a new property, make sure you look into heating as this will not only save you money long term but will make those winter days more comfortable. Hydronic heating is a beautiful heat but not always possible in some homes, ducted heating gives a great instant and even heat; a split system can be convenient in a smaller space and provides cooling in summer. If heating your home or room with an open fire I suggest a wood box with a glass door to ensure maximum efficient use and heat; an other beautiful yet energy efficient option is a gas log fire; with so many contemporary options that offer a stunning interior design and warmth.
Carpet:
Carpet in the living spaces and bedrooms also helps keep your property warm and cosy. There are some beautiful carpets on the market now to choose from. We also recommend customised rugs that fit well in the space too.
Window furnishings:
There are a large number of options available here. More and more clients are looking at dual blinds in bedrooms which work extremely well in keeping the warmth in the room. With superior heat and reflection properties it assists in maintaining an energy efficient environment. Giving you protection without blocking your view.
Insulation:
Making sure you have insulation under the floor, walls and ceilings not only saves you money long-term but will help in keeping the property warm and cosy. It’s always worth spending the money on looking at insulation when building a new property or a renovation.
Interior Touches:
Warm home is a happy environment that is welcoming to family and friends. The additional touches of cosy winter cushions and gorgeous throws for your living and bedroom spaces will help too in creating a warm haven for you to enjoy in the cold months.
Stay warm and cosy!
